Forcasting the Weather

As you watch the weather forecast on the local news program, you may wonder how the meteorologist knows what the weather will be like tomorrow or even the rest of the week. This exercise is designed to help you observe the weather. Accurate observations are useful in making weather forecasts.

For at least seven days - use the Internet, newspaper, tv, radio news, or weather tools that you make yourself to complete the chart below.

Date
Precipitation
Air temperature
Wind speed
Wind direction
Air pressure

Once you collect the data, it is time to use it. Using the data, write a short weather prediction for the next day or two. Share your prediction with your family or friends.

Download the plug-ins: Get Adobe Acrobat Reader , and Get Quicktime Player. (The QuickTime plug-in is needed to play sounds and movies correctly.)
