Map It

Geologists and rock hounds flock to Utah. We have fantastic rocks, minerals and fossils. A geologist is a scientist who studies rocks. A rock hound is a person who collects rocks and minerals as a hobby.

Your challenge is to create a simple map guiding people to the fossils of Utah.

  • Draw your own outline map, or print this one.
  • Draw and color in the Great Salt Lake.
  • Research locations where fossils can be found.
  • Mark on your map where fossils can be found.
  • Include a legend if you use symbols for fossil locations.

Download the plug-ins: Get Adobe Acrobat Reader , and Get Quicktime Player. (The QuickTime plug-in is needed to play sounds and movies correctly.)
