The map below shows three Utah biomes. Print this page and fill in each section according to the number and color that each is assigned.
 
Hint: while coloring the map, be careful to only color the wetland areas blue (they are either a river or lake area.) The majority of your map should be brown.
 
  
 

Analysis

  1. What biome does each color represent?
  2. What is the largest biome in Utah? What is the smallest?
 

Extended learning.

Look at a topographic map of Utah. Notice that different colors represent changes in elevation. Find the different biomes on the topographic map using the basic map that you colored. Can you see the differences of each biome on the map? What are some of the differences?

 

Download the plug-ins: Get Adobe Acrobat Reader , and Get Quicktime Player. (The QuickTime plug-in is needed to play sounds and movies correctly.)
